Keep your New Year’s Resolutions this Year with the Help of a Personal Trainer
We have reached that oh so familiar time on the calendar again. The new year is here, and this is the year you’ll FINALLY stick to your New Year’s resolution of getting into the gym and losing all that weight you promised yourself you would lose. It’s FINALLY the year you’ll get into the gym to gain some muscle and look shredded for the summer months lying ahead. Sound familiar? We’ve all been here at some point or know of someone who has made these promises to themselves, but unfortunately never stuck to it.
I have been a certified personal trainer for almost a year now and have loved working with every one of my clients and helping them reach their goals and motivating them to be better. However, in years past, I have found myself in the same shoes as others when it came to being consistent in the gym. I found myself going every day for a month, then skipping the next one completely. I found myself plateauing at a certain weight and becoming discouraged, which pushed me away even more. Every once in a while, we all need guidance or a motivator to help us stick to our original plan, and that is where seeking the help of a personal trainer comes in handy.

Personal trainers can help develop a workout plan that is the best fit for YOU. No more going online and searching for those 12-week programs on how to develop abs. Those workouts don’t necessarily work for everybody. Body types, lifestyles, and schedules differ from person to person, so why shouldn’t your workout plans? If you are new to working out or have not worked out in a few years, and do not have extensive knowledge on different workout plans, it would be smart to seek the advice of a personal trainer on where to start based on who YOU are, not other people.
A big reason most people struggle to stick to their fitness resolution is because they set a big goal that may take a year to achieve, with no goals to reach on the way. This causes us to become discouraged and makes us more likely to quit. A personal trainer can help you develop attainable and realistic milestones to achieve along the way to reaching your goal of losing or gaining weight. If you would like to lose 20 pounds by 2024, your trainer will help you develop short term goals for you to push for on the way to that bigger number. This helps us feel a sense of achievement and motivates us to propel toward that next step.
A personal trainer will help you become more comfortable and confident in the weight room. After working at New Milford Fitness & Aquatics Club for the past year and a half, I have become aware of how new gym goers feel toward the weight room portion of the gym. It can be stressful not knowing how to do an exercise correctly, and more importantly, doing exercises incorrectly really raises your risk of injury. A personal trainer teaches everything from correct exercise form to how to pick a weight up correctly to avoid injury. Let them show you the right way to do exercises so you can stress less!
When starting up with your fitness resolution, you may have some questions regarding your workout plan. You may find yourself losing motivation throughout your journey. You may not know how to perform certain exercises. Maybe you’ll be worried about suffering from an injury due to incorrect form. Don’t hesitate to stop by the personal training desk over at New Milford Fitness & Aquatics Club so we can help you with these issues. We have several amazing trainers who are ready to take that New Year’s resolution head on with you!
