QUESTION: Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you become interested in Personal Training? What certifications do you have?
From an early age, I was playing soccer, basketball and participating in martial arts. Being active was always a big part of my life. As a child at 10 years old, my life was put on pause due to a stroke. Seeing how much the health professionals around me encouraged me to regain my life and physcial activities back, it gave me the motivation and strength to want to put all that effort into helping others around me as I grew up. Personal training gives me the opportunity to return the favor to others that desire help in regaining such confidence in themselves. I decided to attend a National Personal Training Institute and graduated with a degree in Personal Training as well as a certification in basic nutrition.
QUESTION: What criteria do you use when determining an exercise program for a client?
Every client is different. It is important to get to know each client in more ways than just understanding their workout habits. It helps me as a trainer to understand their personal health, their functional mobility, as well as any current or past injuries in order to help them reach the goals they desire.
QUESTION: What do you think your greatest strengths are as a Personal Trainer?
I think my greatest strength as a Personal Trainer is being able to understand each client’s abilities and weaknesses, even ones that they may not necessarily be aware of themselves. I believe it is important to watch form as they perform their workouts, which allows me to make adjustments on the spot to prevent any injuries, while helping them succeed to their greatest potential.
QUESTION: You’ve said that you specialize in strength training and weight loss. Can you elaborate on that for us?
Almost all clients have the dream of losing weight while getting back in shape. I like to train clients in ways that helps them lose their body fat while incorporating exercises that can help build strength and muscle on top of burning the fat off. It is essential to lose fat, but it is also important to replace the lost fat with muscle.
QUESTION: You also train people in boxing. Tell us a little more about that. What are the benefits of boxing training?
Boxing is a great sport/exercise that has more benefits than people may think. Of course, boxing is a good workout in terms of letting your frustrations out. However, boxing is a workout that has more benefits than not. Such discipline in terms of learning how to strike a mitt or bag properly results in improving one’s posture and balance during everyday activities. It is a great workout that improves not only hand-eye coordination, but cardiovascular health with such rapid movements that involves various muscles engaged during boxing.
QUESTION: What do you like most about being a Personal Trainer?
As a Personal Trainer, there is no better feeling that seeing the hard work and dedication pay off to all of my clients. It is important to me knowing that with my help, my clients can reach all the goals they desire and help them gain the confidence that everyone deserves.
